Hudson Valley Man Murders Brother
A Hudson Valley man confessed he killed his brother.
On Thursday in Orange County Court, 38-year-old George Bawn of Blooming Grove pleaded guilty to murder in connection with the shooting death of his brother on February 6, at Mountain Lodge Park in the Town of Blooming Grove.
Bawn confessed he intentionally killed his brother, James Bawn, by shooting him. Prosecutors argued that the victim was shot four times in the head and torso with a .45 caliber pistol.
“There is no more serious crime than intentional murder, and the relationship between this defendant and the victim makes this crime even more incomprehensible,” Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said. “I thank the New York State Police and the Town of Blooming Gove Police Department for their thorough investigation of this case. Our community will be safer during the two decades that this defendant will be in prison.”
Under a plea agreement placed on the record at the time Bawn pleaded guilty, he will be sentenced to 20 to life in state prison when he is sentenced in October.
