Police are hoping you can help them find a gunman after a man was found murdered inside his Hudson Valley home.

On Monday around noon, the City of Middletown Police Department responded to 23 Knapp Avenue for a reported medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old man who lives in an upstairs apartment dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

A criminal investigation was then initiated by the City of Middletown Police Department, with assistance from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police.

At this time, it appears that this incident was a targeted assault and the suspect or suspects knew the victim, police say.

Authorities don't believe there is any risk to the public. The man's identity is being withheld until proper family notifications can be made.
