Hudson Valley Walmart Undergoing Big Changes
A Hudson Valley location is undergoing some major changes which should help local residents save time and money.
On Wednesday, Walmart announced plans to spend an estimated $52 million to remodel 15 New York stores, as well as the rollout of several in-store and online innovations designed to help busy customers save time and money.
“We’ll continue improving our store experience in New York while offering our customers new technology and innovations that makes shopping faster and more convenient,” said Keith Wyche, a Walmart regional general manager in New York in a press release. “We look forward to expanding these convenient services in other communities throughout the state, while continuing to provide the convenient one-stop shopping experience our customers know and love.”
Of the 15 New York stores that will be renovated in 2018, one location is from the Hudson Valley. The Walmart on W Merritt Blvd in Fishkill.
In a press release, the company said Walmart will continue to test new technologies that transform how customers shop with plans expand several services like online grocery pickup and Walmart Pickup Towers.
When it comes to online grocery pickup, customers can order Walmart groceries online and pick them up without ever having to unbuckle their seatbelts. The service is free and prices through Walmart Online Grocery are the same as in-store, according to WalMart.
Walmart Pickup Towers are described as being like a high-tech vending machine. The towers allow customers to pick up their online orders in less than a minute by scanning a barcode sent to their smartphone.
Pickup Tower service is currently available at one New York Walmart, in Monroe County. The company plans to look into opportunities to expand the service to all New York customers in the coming year.
