Hudson Valley Man Jailed For Fatal Drunken Head-On Crash

A Hudson Valley man who confessed he was highly intoxicated when he caused a head-on crash that killed a young local man is heading to prison.

On Tuesday in Orange County Court, 32-year-old Dennis Wilson, Jr. of Walden was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison. In November 2017, he pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with a head-on drunken crash that killed another driver.

“This defendant’s decision to drink and drive cost an innocent man his life and merits a lengthy prison sentence,” Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said. “Fatalities caused by those who drive while intoxicated are as preventable as they are tragic. I hope this state prison sentence will act as a deterrent to all who are tempted to drive while intoxicated.”

Wilson admitted that he was driving drunk in in the Town of Montgomery around 12:11 a.m. on March 4.

Wilson confessed that his 2002 Jeep crossed the double yellow lines on Route 52 and struck another car head-on, killing the other car’s driver.

Wilson admitted that at the time of the crash his blood alcohol content was .20%

Jason G. Exley, 28, of Walden was killed in the crash. Friends of the Exley family set up a GoFundMe page to help the family deal with their tragic loss.

As of this writing, over $15,000 has been raised.
