Police: Wanted Woman With 25 Aliases Found in Hudson Valley
A woman who was wanted by police in two states with allegedly 25 aliases was found hiding in the Hudson Valley.
On Monday, the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force arrested 41-year-old Joanne C. Mack, as a fugitive from justice.
Mack was wanted under the alias of Joanne Price in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania for violating probation, on an original charge of theft by deception-false impression and wanted by South Carolina Police for fraud, according to the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Task Force.
The Delaware County Fraud Task Force developed information that Mack might be hiding in Sullivan County and receiving benefits. Police in Delaware County notified Sullivan County investigators, who tracked Mack to the Super 8 Motel in Monticello, where she was placed by the Department of Family Services.
Mack who uses over 25 different aliases, eight different Social Security numbers and seven different dates of birth has been living at the Super 8 Motel since February 21, at a cost to taxpayers of $1,228.55, police say.
She was spotted Monday afternoon getting into a cab in Monticello and was taken into custody. Mack was sent to the Sullivan County Jail pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
