Police: Hudson Valley Police K9 Leads Officers to Man Who Broke into Sleeping Woman’s Bedroom
A Dutchess County man who allegedly stole from a sleeping woman is behind bars, all thanks to man’s best friend.
On Sunday around 9:15 a.m., City of Beacon police responded to an apartment building on Coffey Avenue after a woman said she woke up to an unknown man in her bedroom. The man fled prior to police arrival.
When officers arrived, it was discovered that the man broke open the door of the building and stole multiple items from the home, police say.
Witnesses gave police the area in which they saw the man flee.
Beacon Police K-9, Palo, was able to track the man's scent and led officers to the suspect, 31-year-old Anthony Verdile from Beacon.
Verdile was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, felonies, and misdemeanors for petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Verdile was he was arraigned in Beacon City Court and sent to jail without bail.
