Hudson Valley Man Jailed For Selling Drugs Near Pre-K School

A man jailed for selling drugs in the Hudson Valley received a longer prison sentence for selling drugs near a Pre-K School before being sentenced for the first crime.

On Monday in Orange County Court, 46-year-old Robert Burbridge of Port Jervis was sentenced to multiple state prison sentences, which will result in him serving a total of 16 years in prison in connection with five indictments charging him with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of weapon.

On April 3, Burbridge was sentenced to 13 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing a loaded .380 caliber semiautomatic pistol inside his Coleman Street home in Port Jervis in April of 2016.

On June 5, Burbridge pleaded guilty to four additional charges of narcotics sales, including one charge of selling on or near school grounds.

Burbridge was caught for selling cocaine in Orange County on four occasions in February of 2017. On February 17, Burbidge was caught selling cocaine near the Recap Headstart Pre-K School, in Port Jervis.

“This defendant simply refused to stop trafficking narcotics, even after he had pleaded guilty to a felony,” Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said in a press release. “The community will be safer during the sixteen years he is in state prison.”
