High-Risk Sex Offender Found Hiding in Hudson Valley, Police Say

A sex offender who raped two girls and has a high-risk of a repeat offense is accused of trying to hide in the Hudson Valley.

On May 7, members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office received information from the United States Marshals Service stating a registered sex offender, 36-year-old Leslie J Dolder III of Newburgh, failed to notify law enforcement after he had moved in addition to failing to meet other requirements of the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Deputies later located Dolder who recently was living in the Town of Newburgh. He was charged with sex offender failing to report a change of address, failing to mail yearly verification sheet and sex offender failing to provide an updated photograph, all felonies.

Dolder was arraigned in the Town of Rosendale Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $50,000 secured bond.

Dolder, a Level-3 sex offender, was convicted in 2006 for raping two girls, ages 12 and 16, according to the New York State Sex Offender's database. He was sentenced to 360 days in jail.

Level-3 sex offenders are considered to have the highest risk of a repeat offense and are considered the greatest risk to the public.
