Foot of Snow Still Not Ruled Out For HV Overnight Saturday

There's a growing chance the Hudson Valley will see back-to-back snowstorms, with one that could bring over a foot of snow.

Early Wednesday morning, Hudson Valley Weather updated their followers on Facebook about the upcoming weather.

First off, a snowstorm that should bring 1-3 inches is expected to impact the Friday morning commute. The second storm, which is expected to be much more powerful, should reach the region late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

"A very heavy snowfall exceeding 12” cannot be ruled out, especially across the NW parts of the region," Hudson Valley Weather wrote regarding the second storm.

The second storm will likely be followed by very cold air, a flash freeze and gusty winds. All of that will produce dangerous wind chills that may exceed -20 degrees, according to Hudson Valley Weather.

Hudson Valley Weather is also concerned the snow and freezing weather could lead to lots of ice which may lead to tree damage and power outages in the Hudson Valley.

The local weather experts say they still need time to determine how much snow the region will see this weekend, but add "know that a storm is likely at this point."

As Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service says there is "the potential for a significant winter weather event this weekend, however there is still relatively low certainty regarding the details of precipitation types and potential impacts."
