Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Parts of Hudson Valley

Following Spring-like temperatures, many in the Hudson Valley are in for a cold awakening as a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of the Hudson Valley.

According to Hudson Valley Weather, the average temperature on Feb. 5 is 37 degrees. Yesterday at 2 p.m., it was above 60 degrees in Monroe, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Saugerties and more local areas, according to Hudson Valley Weather.

Well, sadly, it's time to snap back to the reality that it's still winter.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Sullivan, and parts of Ulster County starting from around noon on Wednesday until late Thursday morning.

Freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch expected, officials say.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook was issued for the rest of Ulster County and all of Dutchess, Orange and Putnam counties from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Periods of rain and freezing rain is in the forecast.

Officials also warn isolated power outages and downed tree limbs are likely due to the ice. The potentially dangerous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
