Police: Hudson Valley Man Tried To Crash Head-on Into Police Car
During a wild chase, a Hudson Valley man is accused attempting to ram a police car head-on and run other officers off the road.
Recently, deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop 35-year-old Joshua F. VanDuzer of Bethel on State Route 55 in Swan Lake. VanDuzer was wanted on an arrest warrant issued in the Town of Liberty for stealing a trail camera, police say.
Vanduzer initially pulled over, but when the deputy approached his vehicle, he is accused of speeding off towards Kauneonga Lake.
While fleeing, VanDuzer allegedly attempted to ram a Town of Bethel Constable's car head-on and run deputies off the road.
Vanduzer continued driving towards his home on Gabriel Road and was finally arrested of getting out of his parked car.
The vehicle Vanduzer was driving belonged to his employer, which is a medical appointment transport company, police say.
VanDuzer was charged with the felonies for reckless endangerment and criminal mischief as well misdemeanors for fleeing an officer, resisting arrest and the original petit larceny warrant. He was also issued 22 traffic tickets in connection with the incident.
VanDuzer was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
