2 More Hudson Valley Teens Accused of Threatening to Shoot School

Two more teens from the Hudson Valley are accused of making threats they planned to shoot up their schools.

On Wednesday around 10:30 a.m., deputies from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to the BOCES Tech Center in the Town of Hyde Park for a report of someone making threats of “shooting up the school” via Snapchat.

Following an investigation, a 17-year-old girl from Pawling High School who attends BOCES was charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony and falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor.

The 17-year-old was ordered to submit to a mental health evaluation. At the conclusion of the evaluation, she will report to probation to be placed on electronic monitoring.

Around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer assigned to the Pine Plains School District was told about a threat made by a student at the high school.

A 15-year-old student allegedly told other students he was going to shoot up the class. The unnamed student was arrested and charged as a juvenile.

Both of the threats were found to be non-credible and there was no indication that staff or students were in danger at any point, officials say.
