14 Injured, 3 Critically After Fiery Explosion in Hudson Valley

At least 14 are injured, three in critical condition after a fiery explosion this morning in the Hudson Valley.

The blast happened around 12:15 a.m., at a bungalow on Cromwell Hill Road in the Quaker Hill Cottages in Monroe.

It's believed that all of the victims are teens from the New York City area. ABC reports the teens are likely students from a Yeshiva in Brooklyn who rented the Monroe bungalow.

Neighbors said the boys came home to the smell of gas. One opened a window which caused an explosion and a fire broke out, according to Hudson Valley Post correspondent Mark Leib from Rockland Video.

Firefighters from at least eight departments battled the blaze for about two hours.

NBC reports 14 were injured, three critically. At least one injured person was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. Someone staying at a nearby bungalow said the explosion was so powerful he felt it in his nearby bungalow.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
