Tractor-Trailer Driver Charged For Killing Man Walking On I-87
A tractor-trailer driver is accused of fleeing the scene after he fatally hit a man who was walking on I-87 in the Hudson Valley.
On Sunday around 4 a.m., 59-year-old Scott Spooner of Vineland, N.J was operating a 2009 Kenworth Tractor-Trailer heading south on the New York State Thruway when he allegedly struck and killed 54-year-old Paul Peacock of New York City who was walking on the Thruway near the Ramapo Rest Area.
It’s still unclear as to why Peacock was walking on I-87.
Spooner is accused of fleeing the scene after the fatal accident. He and his damaged tractor-trailer were found at the Pilot Travel Center on Route 17 in Mahwah, N.J. Sunday around noon, police say.
Spooner was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.
Spooner was arraigned in the Village of Sloatsburg Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail on $25,000 bail.
