Police: Hudson Valley Man Tries to Avoid Deer, Crashes Into Pond

A driver in the Hudson Valley successfully avoided crashing into a deer but lost control of his car, which overturned and ended up in a local pond.

On Sunday around 6:35 a.m., a car driven by a 25-year-old man from Connelly attempted to avoid a deer that ran onto Mill Dam Road in the Town of Marbletown.

While trying to avoid the deer, the driver lost control of his car, left the road, overturned and came to a rest in the Stone Ridge Pond, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.

The 25-year-old man was transported to Vassar Hospital by Northern Dutchess Ambulance with what police report are minor injuries.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Marbletown First Aid, Stone Ridge Fire Department and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
