On Wednesday, the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested 45-year-old James Degraw of Liberty after responding to a call for an assault.
Liberty police were called to an apartment building on Chestnut Street around 7:00 p.m., for a report of a man being assaulted with a baseball bat.
Arriving officers found a 32-year-old man with injuries to his face. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition wasn't released.
An aluminum baseball bat used in the assault was found at the scene, police say. Degraw was located and arrested without incident. He was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.
