Man Falls 45-Feet While Climbing in the Hudson Valley

A man climbing a 200-foot cliff in the Hudson Valley had to be rescued after he fell about 45-feet.

On Sunday around 11:15 a.m., Mohonk Preserve rangers contacted New York State Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers to help rescue a climber who fell about 45 feet at the Mohonk Preserve in Gardiner.

A 22-year old Brooklyn man was climbing a 200-foot cliff when he fell approximately 45 feet, officials say. The cause of the fall is unclear.

The man was secured to a rescue litter and lowered to the base of the cliff, where he was transported to the hospital by a local EMS provider. His injuries weren't released.

Five Rangers assisted with the technical rope rescue. The DEC Rangers were assisted by Mohonk Preserve Rangers, New York State Police and the Gardiner Fire Department.
