Elderly Hudson Valley Couple Killed in ATV Accident

Two elderly Hudson Valley residents were killed in an ATV accident.

On Saturday around 3:30 p.m., detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a fatal ATV accident in the Town of Wawarsing.

Police responded to a report of an elderly couple found dead in a body of water with an ATV.

Filipo Zolli, 83, and 84-year-old Johann Zolli were riding tandem on an ATV on their Greenfield Park property. At some point, they lost control of the ATV and crashed into a shallow body of water, officials say.

The pair suffered significant injuries and later died from those injuries in the water, police say. The pair were found by a worker on the property.

They were removed from the water by members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office Dive Team.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
