Cops Investigate 'Ugly Acts' of Swastikas on Hudson Valley Homes

Police are aggressively investigating after swastikas and more were drawn onto a number of Hudson Valley homes.

In a Facebook post, the Kingston Police Department wrote they are "aggressively investigating ugly acts of criminal mischief that have no place in our society."

Late Saturday night and early Sunday morning an unknown person or group of people sprayed painted “swastikas”, stars, “666”, and “smh” at numerous locations and several parked vehicles throughout the City of Kingston, officials say.

The areas most affected were Liberty Street, Broadway, St James Street, Madden Street, Smith Avenue and Franklin Street, police say.

The swastika graffiti happened while a number of celebrities and Hudson Valley residents held a concert and political rally at the Ulster Performing Arts Center on Broadway in Kingston, according to Kingston Mayor Steve Noble.

A group of Hudson Valley "concerned citizens" joined together for "Hudson Valley Votes," a rally ahead of the Nov. 6, mid-term elections.

Natalie Merchant headlined "Hudson Valley Votes." She was joined by actors Paul Rudd and Lili Taylor; Aaron Dessner of The National; singer-songwriter Dar Williams; actress and filmmaker Mary Stuart Masterson and activist and author Eve Ensler.
