A woman walking on train tracks in the Hudson Valley was fatally hit by a train.
On Friday around 8:15 p.m., members of the Kingston Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian was hit by a train at the Flatbush CSX railroad crossing.
A witness, who stopped at the railroad crossing grates, told police he saw a woman walking across the tracks at the Flatbush Avenue CSX Crossing towards Foxhall Avenue when she was hit by a northbound train.
The witness also told authorities the railroad crossing gates were working and in the down position at the time of the accident, police say.
The witness, a retired Kingston fireman, gave first aid to the woman until police arrived. Police provided more medical attention until the arrival of an ambulance.
The woman was taken to the Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway campus where she succumbed to her injuries. Her name hasn't been released as of this writing.
