Are you ready for some football? It appears the Hudson Valley is, as two areas made the list for best football cities in the United States.

West Point and Poughkeepsie both made the list of Wallethub’s best cities for football fans.

Researchers compared 244 U.S. cities with at least one college or professional football team across 17 key metrics.

Metrics included, fan friendliness, average ticket price, number of NFL or college football teams and team rank.

“A good football fan follows and roots for one (or, at most, three) teams, Tony Lima, Professor of Economics at California State University-East, told Wallethub. “That includes attending an occasional game in person, watching games on television or listening on the radio, and owning a bit of fan gear.”

Among small cities, West Point, home to Army football, ranked 28. Poughkeepsie, which features college football action at Marist, placed 86.

Overall, West Point ranked 69, Poughkeepsie 152.

New York City finished third overall just behind Green Bay, the best city for football, and Pittsburgh.
