Police: Man Charged With DWI After Fleeing I-84 Accident
A local man is accused of driving drunk and fleeing the scene of an accident he caused on 84.
On Monday, New York State Police from the East Fishkill barracks arrested 24-year-old Alexander P. King of Southeast for Driving While Intoxicated.
Around 9:20 p.m., troopers began searching for a car on Interstate 84, just west of I-684, which was involved in a hit-and-run collision.
An officer spotted a Honda that matched a description of the fleeing vehicle, driving over 85 miles per hour eastbound on I-84, police say.
The car was pulled over. During the traffic stop, authorities allege that King was intoxicated.
King is accused of operating his vehicle aggressively and tailgating a car driven by 47-year-old Fred Vanzillotta of Salt Point.
King allegedly struck Vanzillotta’s vehicle in the rear and fled the scene.
King was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on Feb 9.
