A woman was found dead floating in one of the largest creeks in the Hudson Valley.

On Tuesday around 5 p.m., New York State Police in Dutchess County released they are engaged in an investigation near Maloney Road in the town of Wappinger.

There is no threat to public safety at this time, police said in a press release.

Multiple sources on the scene told Hudson Valley Post that State Police responded to the Wappinger Creek near Route 376 and Maloney Road in Wappinger after the body of a female was found.

The woman was found dead, floating in the creek, sources say.

Wappinger Creek is the largest stream in Dutchess County, it flows 38 miles into the Hudson River from Pine Plains to near New Hamburg in the Town of Poughkeepsie, according to DutchessNY.gov.

Update:

She was found wearing white jeans, a pink t-shirt, a black button up sweater and black and purple Merrell sneakers.

Her name isn’t known at this time as a forensic examination and autopsy are still ongoing.
