A local man without a license is accused of crashing his car while driving drunk.

On Friday just after 2 a.m., deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the area of Route 214 in the Town of Shandaken for a one-car property damage auto accident.

A further investigation revealed the driver, 39-year-old Demetrio Herrera of Chichester, was driving drunk, polices said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated a felony and aggravated unlicensed, both felonies.

Herrera was arraigned in Shandaken Town Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond to return to the Town of Shandaken Court on a later date.
