Owner of Fatal Limo Helped Stop Terrorist Plot in Hudson Valley
It appears the registered owner of the limo company that was involved in this weekend's deadly crash has ties to the Hudson Valley.
Saturday's crash at the intersection of Route 30 and Route 30-A in Schoharie which killed 20 is the deadliest transportation accident in the United States since 2009. 18 people in the limo were going to a birthday party, two pedestrians were struck and killed.
On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the limo driver, Scott Lisinicchia, didn't have the proper license and that the vehicle had recently failed inspection.
Cuomo also identified the company of the limo as Prestige Limousine. According to Reuters, the company's owner, Shahed Hussain, has the same name and address as a former FBI informant with ties to Newburgh.
Hussain was arrested in 2002 for allegedly helping immigrants cheat on driver's tests. Years later, he acted as a radical militant and helped the FBI convict four men who plotted to bomb synagogues and shoot down planes in Newburgh, Reuters reports.
According to the Associated Press, Hussain is credited with helping the FBI stop an elaborate sting at a mosque in Newburgh in 2009.
