A Hudson Valley teen was is accused of stealing thousands of dollars while working at a local Walmart.

According to Walmart Asset protection, on four separate occasions, 19-year-old Elijah M. Matthews of Kingston, stole money from a cash register he was operating at a Walmart Superstore located at 601 Frank E. Sottile Blvd. in the Town of Ulster.

On two occasions the amount of money stolen exceeded $1,000, police say. Two other times, Matthews is accused of taking less than $1,000.

On Saturday, the Ulster Police Department charged Matthews with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, felonies, and two counts of petit larceny, misdemeanors.

Matthews was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Ulster Justice Court at a later date.
