A beloved Hudson Valley teacher and coach lost his life on New Year's Day.

In the early hours of Jan. 1, Chris Page an English teacher and coach at James I. O’Neill High School was killed in a car crash. The accident happened around 7 a.m. near Gardertown Road in the Town of Newburgh, sources tell Hudson Valley Post.

“Page did so much for our school and community, all while touching the lives of students, their families and his colleagues,” James. I. O’Neil Principal Debbie M. Brand said.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Page’s family.

“He was the most caring, compassionate, generous, selfless person I have met and I know that he will be missed so very dearly,” Nicole Rita Marie wrote on the GoFundMe page.  “He touched the lives of hundreds- students, friends, athletes, coaches, teachers, administration, everyone. He loved his family immensely. He spoke of his nieces with the biggest smile on his face, his mom, siblings, and aunt-- all brought such joy to his life.”

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Chris Page.
