Hudson Valley Brothers Missing After Car Crashes Into River

Two brothers from the Hudson Valley are missing after a car they were in crashed into a river.

On Monday around 5:45 a.m., a car carrying six people flipped over and landed into the Selway River in Idaho. Two men from Georgia were able to escape and were rescued. The other four men, including two from New York, are still missing.

"The Suburban went into the river; it ended up on its top, wheels up ... and we can't recover it because the river is too high," Idaho County Sheriff Doug Giddings said according to the Lewiston Tribune. "They ran off the road and dropped into the river in a hard-to-get-to place. We just weren't able to get to that vehicle without killing somebody else."

It's believed the group of six were bear hunting in Idaho and were on their way to check bear bait when their car crashed into the river, according to Ravalli Republic.

Police have yet to identify the four missing men, but the Idaho State Journal reports two of the missing men are brothers from New York. Sources tell Hudson Valley Post the brothers are from Mahopac.

On Thursday rescuers were able to pull the car from the river, but no one was found inside the Chevrolet, according to the Lewison Tribune.

Police will continue their search this weekend.
