Hudson Valley Brothers Arrested After 1 Shot, Threat at Hospital
A Hudson Valley man is accused of shooting his brother after the other man allegedly said he was going to shoot people at a local hospital.
On Thursday around 1:15 a.m., City of Poughkeepsie police responded to a home on Yates Blvd. for a domestic disturbance and a person shot. Responding officers were told a 28-year-old man was shot once in the forearm by his 25-year-old brother during an altercation.
The altercation started after the 28-year-old brother, Adam Hannon, was brought home by his parents from Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where was treated for an undisclosed medical emergency, police say. Inside the garage of the home, Adam is accused of attacking his step-father who was trying to prevent him from leaving on his motorcycle.
Adam's mother then called for her other son to help. 25-year-old Zachary Hannon got into a physical fight with his brother while holding a gun and during the altercation the gun went off, shooting Adam in the arm, police say.
The gun used was legally owned by the step-father, officials say.
Zachary was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, felonies. He was sent to Dutchess County Jail on $20,000 over $40,000 bail.
Adam was brought to Vassar Brothers Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury to his forearm.
Prior to the shooting, while being discharged from Mid-Hudson Regional Hosptial, Adam allegedly said he would return with a firearm and kill some people.
Adam was arrested by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police for making a terroristic threat, a felony, after leaving Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was sent to Dutchess County Jail on $20,000 over $40,000 bail.
