A Dutchess County woman is accused of stealing close to $6,000 in unemployment benefits.

On Tuesday, New York State Police in Rhinebeck arrested 28-year-old Kaila M. Royster of Hyde Park for falsifying business records and offering a false instrument for filing, both felonies.

Police allege that Royster stole over $5,590 from the New York State Department of Labor between April of 2014 and October of 2014, by saying she was unemployed when she was gainfully employed.

Royster was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Hyde Park court on August 10.

New York State Police were assisted by the New York State Department of Labor.
