1 Killed in Route 9 Crash in Hudson Valley
One person was killed and another injured in an early morning crash on Route 9.
On Saturday around 6:20 a.m., New York State Police responded to Route 9 in Philipstown north of State Route 301 for a fatal two-car motor vehicle crash.
An initial investigation found a 2018 Dodge Challenger was heading north on Route 9 and, for unknown reasons, entered the southbound lane, police say.
The Dodge, driven by 25-year-old Isaiah Byars of New Hampshire, then struck a southbound 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Byars was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency medical personnel, according to State Police.
The operator of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Philipstown Ambulance with undisclosed injuries.
