It appears the Hudson Valley likes Gov. Andrew Cuomo more than ever.

A new Marist poll shows that Governor Andrew Cuomo has strong support for reelection in 2018. Among potential Republican opponents, Cuomo leads each by more than a two to one margin.

Potential opponents included Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and Donald Trump Jr.

According to the poll, Cuomo has a 35 point lead over Trump Jr., and leads Astorino by 32 points.

Cuomo maintains an over 30 point lead over other potential contenders like Harry Wilson and Carl Paladino.

Almost half the state said they will definitely vote for Cuomo in 2018 for Governor.

“When an incumbent has nearly 50% of the electorate willing to commit to his candidacy, it poses a formidable challenge to those seeking to unseat him,” Dr. Lee M. Miringoff, Director of The Marist College Institute for Public Opinion said.

However, when it comes to the White House, 51% of New Yorkers say they don’t want Cuomo to run for President in 2020. 51% of democrat voters do want Cuomo to run for the White House.

Also according to the Marist poll, Cuomo’s approval rating is at 43%, the highest since 2014. In Sept. 2016, Cuomo’s approval rating was 40%.
