Child Sex Abuser Was Hiding Near Hudson Valley School, Police Say
A high-risk sex offender who sexually abused a child has allegedly been hiding for years next to a Hudson Valley school.
On Thursday, Town of Lloyd police arrested 67-year-old Clifford Brantley and charged him with failure to register as a sex offender, a felony, after he was allegedly found living at the Valley Vista Assisted Living Facility in Highland.
Brantley has been living at the assisted living facility since 2017, failed to register as a Level-3 sex offender and failed to disclose to the facility administration or police that he was a Level-3 sex offender, police say.
Brantley was convicted in 1994 for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl, according to the New York State Sex Offender's database. He was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison.
Brantley has been living about 1 mile from Highland Primary School, according to Google Maps.
Brantley was released on an appearance ticket due to the new bail reform law, according to the Town of Lloyd Police Department. He is due in the Town of Lloyd Court on Feb. 13.
