A school bus experienced mechanical difficulties, skidding off the road and down an embankment on Pendell Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie Monday morning.

The roadway was closed down shortly after the accident at 8:30AM. The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the Fairview Fire Department responded to the scene.

The First Student Inc. charter school bus was carrying five students and the bus driver. It was not immediately clear is anyone suffered any injuries.

According to a witness to the accident, the bus was turning from Violet Avenue onto Pendell Road when it lost control and crashed into the woods.
