Repeat Hudson Valley Sex Offender Sexually Abused 19-Month Old
A high-risk sex offender living the Hudson Valley recorded himself sexually abusing a 19-month-old.
On Friday in Northern District of New York Court, John G. Stroming, 60, of Stuyvesant was sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexually exploiting a child and possessing child pornography.
Stroming was convicted in May 2019 following a two-day jury trial. The evidence at the trial showed that Stroming videotaped himself sexually abusing a 19-month-old and that he also possessed child pornography involving other children.
At the time of the crimes, Stroming was a registered Level-3 sex offender. Level-3 sex offenders are considered to have the highest risk of a repeat offense and are considered the greatest risk to the public.
According to a press release, his previous sex offense convictions included rape in 2011 and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child in 1999.
Senior United States District Judge Norman A. Mordue ordered that Stroming’s sentence run consecutive to a state term of imprisonment Stroming is serving. The federal sentence should begin in 2027 when Stroming’s state sentence is scheduled to end.
