An Ulster County man is accused of purposefully hitting two women who were standing in a driveway with his car.

On Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Broadway in Port Ewen for a 911 call reporting a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, authorities learned that a domestic dispute occurred and that two women were hit by a car, police say.

A description of the suspect’s vehicle was broadcast to surrounding police agencies and members of the Town of Ulster Police located the car traveling on Leggs Mills Road in Lake Katrine.

The vehicle was pulled over and the driver, 25-year-old Keenan Hughes of Kingston, was taken into custody.

Hughes is accused of intentionally hitting two females with his car who were standing in the driveway of a Port Ewen home.

Hughes was charged with assault, a felony, criminal contempt, reckless endangerment, harassment and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, all misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in Town of Esopus Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail and $20,000 property bond.

Both victims were injured, one was taken Kingston Hospital. Their conditions or injuries were not released.
