Two men from North Carolina are behind bars over accusations they were found in the Hudson Valley with over 15 pounds of weed.

On Thursday, New York State Police from New Lebanon and the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 48-year-old Eric Allen and 62-year-old James Brown, both of High Point, N.C., for criminal possession of marijuana, a felony. Brown also received a misdemeanor charge for criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Troopers allegedly noticed the pair’s car on State Route 295 driving 30 miles an hour over the posted speed limit.

During the traffic stop, police discovered that Allen and Brown were in possession of approximately 15 pounds of marijuana, officials say. Additionally, Brown is accused of holding five hydrocodone pills.

Allen and Brown were arraigned before the Town of Chatham Justice Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
