Saugerties Police Chief Joe Sinagra is seeking the public's assistance in locating a suspect he claims is responsible for an armed home invasion Wednesday night.

According to police, 21-year-old Andrew S. Rodriguez forced his way into a Saugerties home at 8:43 pm, armed with a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim and the home healthcare aide if they did not turn over prescription medications.  A physical struggle ensued between the victim and Rodriguez, giving the aide a chance to call 911. A second call to 911 was placed by the neighbor who heard the commotion.

Rodriguez, considered armed and dangerous, fled the scene in a car before police arrived. Saugerties PD has obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect on felony charges of Attempted Burglary in the First Degree and Attempted Robbery in the First Degree.

Rodriguez is 5'9" tall, weighs 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police are asking that anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 845-246-9800. Chief Sinagra says that if you see the suspect, call 911 immediately.
