Police: Intoxicated Driver Arrested After 2 Catastrophic injuries

Two suffered catastrophic injuries after their driver crashed their car in the Hudson Valley while allegedly driving recklessly and intoxicated.

On Thursday, John Tyler Kuhn was arraigned in Ulster County Court on an indictment charging him with aggravated vehicular assault, two counts of assault, and two counts of driving while intoxicated.

Kuhn was the driver of a one-car crash on Route 32 in the Town of Saugerties on Jan. 6, police say.

The accident resulted in catastrophic injuries to two other passengers and minor injuries to another passenger, according to the indictment. Police didn't go into more details about the injuries.

The indictment alleges Kuhn drove recklessly while intoxicated and his recklessness resulted in serious physical injury to two or more people.

The investigation was led by the Town of Saugerties Police Department with assistance from the New York State Police and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.

Kuhn was remanded to the Ulster County Jail.
