Police: Hudson Valley Woman Stole $5,000 From 10 Disabled Adults
A local woman is accused of stealing around $5,000 from 10 disabled adults who live at a group home in the Hudson Valley.
Following a request from the administration at the Ulster-Green ARC, Ellenville police began an investigation into stolen money from several disabled adults at the not-for-profit agency in Ellenville.
Several subpoenas were issued and police received records from the banks of the disabled adults. As a result, 61-year-old Catherine O’Neil of North Wurtsburo was developed as a suspect, police say.
O’Neil, an employee at Ulster-Green ARC, was in charge of all the financial accounts of all the disabled adults at the not-for profit. It’s alleged that from Jan. until June 30, she had disabled adults sign a withdrawal slip for more money than was needed and stole the difference.
O’Neil is accused of stealing around $5,000 from 10 disabled adult residents under the care of the Ulster Green ARC.
On Monday, O’Neil was interviewed by authorities and confessed, police say. She was charged with grand larceny, scheme to defraud and falsifying business records, all felonies. O’Neil was remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond.
