Police: Hudson Valley Man Failed To Register As Sex Offender For 5 Years

An assault with a knife led to a Hudson Valley man’s arrest for allegedly not registering as a sex offender for five years.

On Thursday around 6:30 p.m., deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dispute in Spring Glen. An investigation revealed Mark and Clarence Wilson conspired and assaulted another person with a knife, police say. The unnamed victim suffered minor injuries.

Clarence Wilson, 53, of Spring Glen was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and misdemeanors for third-degree assault, conspiracy and menacing.

As police investigated further, they learned that Mark Wilson, 51, of Ellenville is a Level-2 sex offender who allegedly hasn’t registered or changed his address since 2012.

Mark Wilson was charged with with failure to register as a sexual offender, fail to change address as a sexual offender, failure to report as a sexual offender, assault, all felonies, and misdemeanors for conspiracy and menacing.

According to the New York State sex offenders database, Wilson sexually abused someone in 2002. The photo above is from 2012.

Both were arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court. Clarence Wilson was released on his own recognizance. Mark Wilson was remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
