Police: Dutchess County Home Health Care Aide Stole From Woman She Cared For
A Dutchess County home health care aide is accused of stealing from a woman she cared for.
On Monday, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department arrested 56 year-old Cheryl Thomas of Poughkeepsie for grand larceny and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies.
On Feb. 3, a Town of Poughkeepsie woman reported unauthorized charges on her debit card at area businesses and that items were missing from her home.
An investigation by the Poughkeepsie Detective Division identified the person responsible for the thefts as Thomas, a home health care aide that was working in the victim's home for several months, police say.
Thomas was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court and released under the supervision of the Dutchess County Probation Department.
