Police: Drunk Hudson Valley Man Flees After Driving Into 5 Mailboxes
A Hudson Valley man is accused of crashing into five mailboxes and fleeing the scene while driving drunk and on drugs.
On Saturday just before 4 p.m., Saugerties Police responded to a 911 call reporting an erratic vehicle operation heading north on Route 32 near Grey Mouse Road.
Officials were told the car fled the scene after crashing into five mailboxes.
Authorities soon found the vehicle on Route 32. During an investigation, it was determined the driver, 61-year-old Richard D. Cline was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, police say.
Cline was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while impaired by drugs, misdemeanors, as well as traffic infractions for leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to use designated lane and drove across hazard markings
Cline was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court, and was released on his own recognizance to a family member. He is scheduled to appear later this month in Saugerties Town Court to answer his charges.
