Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Hudson River (Photos)
In what could be described as another "Miracle on the Hudson," a plane made an emergency landing in the Hudson River.
On Tuesday just before 6 p.m., police in Rockland County responded to reports of a plane that landed in the Hudson River near Piermont.
Shortly after the Piermont Police Department confirmed the plane landed in the water, adding there were no injuries and the plane was being removed from the water.
The pilot, who was the only person onboard the small seaplane, later said he was forced to land because of poor visibility in the area. Officials say the pilot made the right decision given the less than ideal conditions and showed a great deal of skill with the landing.
The pilot told NBC he was flying the plane from Atlanta to Connecticut to bring it to its new owner. When he hit the Hudson Valley, visibility made it nearly impossible to continuing flying.
After successfully landing in the Hudson River, the plane's battery died forcing the plane to be towed in.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
