Spot a Moose for New Photo Contest In New York
I can actually say that I have never seen a moose in person. Not even at a wildlife sanctuary. However, something tells me that may change thanks to the fact Moose sightings are more common lately in the Hudson Valley.
The idea of walking a trail in Dutchess County or even Ulster or Orange and spotting a moose seems unlikely but local sightings increase each year. This has the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) announcing a new photo contest.
NYS DEC Announces a New York Moose Photo Contest
Just last month a moose was reported running through someone's front yard in Hyde Park. The homeowner reportedly thought it was a horse at first then realized no it's a moose and was able to get video. This type of sighting may be the inspiration behind the NYS DEC holding a New York Moose Photo contest.

They also mention that they are not taking ownership of the photos submitted and if they use them for social media outreach or DEC agency Materials they will be giving photo credit to the photographer.
