Police say a Hudson Valley woman entered her neighbor’s apartment and stole a water jug full of money.

On March 6, the New Windsor Police Department responded to a reported burglary at an apartment in the Mason's Ridge apartment complex.

A resident said that someone entered his apartment and stole a water jug full of coins.

Detectives began an investigation, which led police to identify a neighbor, who lived in the same building, as the suspect.

The neighbor, 33-year-old Mia Toi Hood of New Windsor was allegedly seen on surveillance video entering the apartment. During a police interview, she admitted to entering the apartment through an unlocked door and stealing the jug of change, police say.

Detectives were then able to recover the jug from Hood’s apartment, including what was left of the assorted coins, according to New Windsor police.

Hood was charged with burglary, a felony and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. She was sent to Orange County Jail on $1,000 cash and $10,000 bond.
