The Hudson Valley is bracing for a "bomb cyclone" that may cause serious flooding and damage.

Accuweather is not mincing words when they say that the storm will "pack a heavy punch" when it hits our area on Wednesday. The storm is predicted to start with rain during daylight hours, worsening overnight. That's when this storm may take a violent turn.

It's possible that the forward momentum of the storm may slow down overnight, dumping even more rain than expected. As of now, we could see up to 4 inches in some areas of the Hudson Valley. But that number could rise even higher if the storm's speed decreases.

Wind will also be a major concern as the storm is expected to produce gusts up to 50mph. Downed tree limbs and branches could cause scattered power outages and those leaves that have begun to fall from trees all over the Hudson Valley are expected to clog up storm drains, adding to even more flooding.

Although only the higher elevations in our area have a chance for snowfall, if power outages become widespread and flooding continues through Thursday morning you can expect school delays and an impact on the morning commute.
