A Fishkill man faces a reckless driving charge after authorities say he drove 105 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone.

Christopher C. Council, 32, of Fishkill was stopped on Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown on Sunday, Jan. 3. Deputy Sheriff Brian Aisenstat had observed Council committing several traffic violations, including driving over double the speed limit, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said in a press release issued Monday.

Council arrested on the misdemeanor charge. He was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released after posting $85 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Philipstown Justice Court on Wednesday, Feb. 3.

If found guilty, Council could face a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail.
