Dutchess County Woman Attacks Woman, Steals Purse At Local Mall

A Dutchess County woman is accused of attacking a woman near a child at a local mall and stealing her purse.

On Sunday, New York State Police from Wappinger arrested 56-year-old Sonia O. Santiago of Wappingers Falls for third-degree robbery, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

On Sunday just after 1 p.m., troopers responded to reports of a disturbance in the parking lot of the Fishkill Plaza on Route 9.

An investigation revealed that Santiago attacked a woman and stole the victim’s purse in the presence of a child, police say.

Santiago was arraigned at the Village of Fishkill Court. She was released on her own recognizance. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 30.
