Dutchess County Man Stole Woman’s Check, Police Say
Update: The case was dismissed
A Dutchess County man is accused of stealing a woman’s $5,000 check.
On Thursday, New York State Police from Wappinger arrested a 48-year-old man from Poughkeepsie for attempted grand larceny, a felony.
In June of 2017, troopers were contacted by a Wappinger Falls woman who reported that a $5,000 check was drawn against her account without her knowledge.
Chase Bank declined the transaction after contacting the victim and an investigation ensued. The investigation indicated the man issued the stolen check to a business acquaintance, police say.
